CANDON, Ilocos Sur — Free agent Joan Monares of University of the Philippines (UP) is joining the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
The team announced the development Friday in a social media post, welcoming the outside hitter.

“We all want more of Joan Monares so here we go! The outside hitter from UP becomes the final piece of PLDT's recruitment before the start of the 2026-2027 PVL season!” the team said.
Monares joins the rotation of Savi Davison, Alleiah Malaluan, Kiesha Bedonia, Shiela Kiseo, and Jovie Prado on the wing as outside spikers.
She was one of the notable snubs during the 2026 PVL Draft, with the proceedings only seeing 11 picks overall on June 3.
The former Fighting Maroon joins Fianne Ariola of Perpetual Help as rookies.
