After silver medal in AFC, Cignal takes leave of absence from PVL

MANILA — The Cignal women's volleyball team has taken a leave of absence from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

The squad announced its decision Tuesday, despite their silver-medal finish in the recently concluded 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

“This difficult decision was taken after careful review of Cignal’s strategic direction,” the statement read. “Our deepest thanks go out to the players, coaches, and staff who have poured their hearts into this team over the years. And to our fans, who have stood by us, maraming, maraming salamat!”

The women's team followed suit after their men's squad also took a leave of absence from the Spikers' Turf.

Before the Super Spikers, perennial contenders Petro Gazz and Chery Tiggo also exited the PVL.

Cignal exits the PVL with a decorated run, collecting five bronze and three silver medals. 

The franchise also produced several individual awardees, including Erika Santos and Vanie Gandler, who captured Most Valuable Player honors in the 2025 On Tour and 2026 All-Filipino Conference, respectively, as well as Ces Molina, who earned the top individual plum in the 2023 Invitational.
