MANILA — Eya Laure’s first stint in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) with Choco Mucho ended in heartbreak after the Flying Titans bowed out in the play-in stage of the 2026 All-Filipino Conference.

Laure, who was unveiled as one of Choco Mucho’s newest additions at the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2026, entered the tournament looking to begin a new chapter following a hiatus brought about by contract complications with her former team, the now-defunct Chery Tiggo.

Despite the early exit, the former University of Santo Tomas (UST) standout believes she still has more to give as she continues working her way back to peak form.

"I think meron pa," Laure said when asked if she has already reached her best form. "Nag-a-adjust pa ako sa weight ko ngayon... I would say naninibago. Tapos nag-a-adjust din ako sa sistema ni coach Dante [Alinsunurin], sa mga teammates—so lahat, adjustment period pa ako lahat."

For Laure, patience remains as the key, absorbing all the lessons she could.

"Magiging patient lang talaga [ako] kasi wala namang mangyayari kung maiinis ka lang. As long as may mga opportunities na makapaglaro at mag-grow, lahat naman 'yan ite-take ko," she said.

The outside hitter also dealt with a setback midway through the conference, suffering a groin injury that sidelined her for several matches.

"Frustrating kasi may mga laro na gusto kong maglaro, more na kung anong kaya kong gawin, kung ano 'yung nagawa ko against Creamline... I feel like nandoon na ako, pero may mga nangyari na parang back to zero ulit tayo—stop na naman, kailangan mag-rehab at magpalakas ulit from injury," she said.

Still, Laure sees the experience as part of the her and the team’s growth moving forward.

"I think on the brighter side, lahat ng pagkatalo at mga ganitong bagay magpapalakas sa amin in the future. 'Yun naman talaga 'yung point, and maging patient lang," she added.
