MANILA, Philippines – At 40 years old, Petro Gazz playmaker Chie Saet is seizing the opportunity to shine for the title-seeking squad.
Proving that she still has a lot left in the tank, Saet steered the Angels to a semis-clinching triumph against Zus Coffee, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
She logged 20 excellent sets, setting up the offense for Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, and Jonah Sabete, while also notching five points.
"Siyempre, happy kasi I'm back inside the court and given the chance again by coach Koji [Tsuzurabara]," she said. "So I take the responsibility na binigay niya para sa 'kin para mag-take up inside sa court and magbigay nang maayos, and mag-lead also sa mga teammates."

Saet has been a steady presence for Petro Gazz, even during defeats.
"Right after nung game, dito nangyari, we talked and also the next day, we talked about what happened. We realized na marami din kaming nakalimutan--'yung sarili namin, kung ano kami," the setter said.
"We started slow that first game so parang inaatay namin na ano lalaban na kayo. Eh 'yun nagulat kami kasi nilabanan kami, so parang 'yun 'yung naging consequence namin. Kumbaga next game, nag-usap kami na hindi na kami papayag na maulit kasi ayaw na namin heartbreak ulit."
A serial champion in the UAAP with the La Salle Lady Spikers and a former title-holder in the 2019 and 2022 PVL Reinforced Conferences, Saet still seeks another accolade -- a trophy in an All-Filipino contest.

"Siyempre, bilang ate, ito na lang 'yung conference na wala kaming championship. So I want din makuha 'yung championship this All-Filipino Conference. And for them to remember me kasi soon I'll be retiring din, so gusto ko din ibigay 'yung best ko every game," said Saet.
"I keep reminding everyone na we have to push. Nandito na kami eh, parang ngayon pa ba kami hihinto?"
