MANILA (UPDATED) — PLDT has taken the last semifinals berth in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.
This, as the High Speed Hitters ousted their sister team Cignal via a 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21 triumph in the quarterfinals on Monday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
This marks the Rald Ricafort-coached squad's third straight semifinals appearance, counting the pre-season tournaments 2025 On Tour and 2025 Invitational.
They will be battling Zus Coffee for a spot in the championship round.
Although the High Speed Hitters wrapped up the preliminaries with a loss to Petro Gazz, Ricafort was glad to see his players respond and step up to the challenge to kick off their playoff run.
PLDT absorbed a setback in the third frame, but it regrouped just in time to thwart Cignal.
"Ayun nga, full credit to Cignal. Pinush nila ulit kami lalo 'yung nakuha nila 'yung third set. Happy lang ako na from the loss to Petro Gazz nag-respond ulit 'yung players from the preparation, tsaka sa game ngayon na na-feel namin 'yung challenge, 'yung bigat. Pero ayun nga, na-overcome naman namin," said Ricafort.
Ricafort went on to commend his rookie Alleiah Malaluan's performance late in Set 4, where she contributed four points.

"So, very happy na nakagawa lahat tsaka 'yung din, 'yung pagpasok din ni Alleiah very sakto, gumawa rin siya," he expressed.
Savi Davison paved the way to that semifinals berth, stuffing the stat sheet with 21 points on 18 attacks and three blocks, to go with 13 excellent receptions and nine excellent digs.
She though acknowledged that the Super Spikers slowed her down during this match.
"I just want to give Cignal the credit because they did slow me down a lot today. It's hard to keep the composure when it takes a long time to score. So I give them credit for the block and their defense as well," she said.
Import Anastasiia Bavykina complemented that outing with 15 points, 12 excellent digs, and six excellent receptions, while Majoy Baron added 11 markers and five kill blocks.
On the hand, Katrin Trebichavska, before bowing out of the import-laden tilt, registered 18 points, 17 excellent digs, and 14 excellent receptions.
