MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Cignal HD secured its third win in as many games after shackling Choco Mucho in four sets, 25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The HD Spikers had to endure the 24-point performance of Choco Mucho star spiker Sisi Rondina, who topped all scorers in the match.
Cignal playmaker Gel Cayuna not just excelled in setting; she also put up numbers in the offense, tallying 11 points on seven attacks, three blocks and an ace, to go with 16 excellent sets to claim Player of the Game citation.
"Malaking bagay po sa amin [ang panalo na 'to]. Tulad ng sabi niyo, isa sila sa [mga] matibay na team [Choco Mucho]. Hundred percent sure na makakatulong sa amin to sa mga next games pa namin," said the HD Spikers' main setter during the postgame press conference.
Four players joined Cayuna in double-digit scoring, led by Jackie Acuna who put up 14 points, Ces Molina had 13, while Vanie Gandler and Riri Meneses dropped 10 each.
Despite fallout in Set 3, the HD Spikers rebounded in the next, surviving Choco Mucho spiker Royse Tubino, who scored three consecutive points in the finishing moments of the fourth frame to keep Choco Mucho alive.
Outside spiker Gandler put Cignal at match point after a sharp kill off the hands of her defender, 24-22, and Flying Titans veteran Dindin Santiago-Manabat suffered an unfortunate attack error to concede the match.
"Siyempre, sobrang happy and proud sa team kasi kita ko 'yung pagod talaga especially nung gumalaw na rin talaga nang maganda 'yung Choco Mucho, which is yun yung in-expect namin," said coach Shaq delos Santos.
"But ang good thing kasi, nakapag-invest na rin kami ng good two sets. Good thing siyempre na nakuha, napanalo namin siya," he added.

Tubino had a total of 15 markers and 12 excellent digs in the loss, while Santiago-Manabat had 11 points. After the defeat, the Flying Titans fell to 2-2 record.

Cignal will play Nxled next in an out-of-town game in Cebu on December 7, while Choco Mucho will face sister team and All-Filipino rival Creamline on December 3.
