POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato — EJ Obiena continued his impressive 2026 season.
Obiena won his sixth gold medal this year after topping the Halberstädter Höhenflug - 1. Internationales Stabhochsprung-Meeting auf dem Domplatz in Germany on Saturday.

The Olympic pole vaulter cleared 5.76 meters for the gold, besting Seifeldin Abdelsalam of Qatar, who finished 5.66 meters for the silver, and United States’ Cole Walsh, who cleared 5.56 meters for the bronze.

The World No. 14 previously cleared a season-best 5.85 meters at the Meeting Madrid in Spain for silver.
The triumph in Germany marked back-to-back podium finishes for the 30-year-old Filipino athlete. He tried to clear 5.90 meters, but was not able to do so after three tries.
