MANILA – Rising Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo finished sixth in the floor exercise finals at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku held on Saturday in Azerbaijan.
Yulo missed out on the podium after scoring 13.700 in the floor exercise finals.
The 18-year-old's difficulty (5.3) was lower than half of the competitors, but his execution of 8.600 was among the highest. After getting his score, Yulo's team made an inquiry to the judging panel to check the difficulty level given to the young gymnast.

Following the review, Yulo was given a score of 13.900 with a difficulty of 5.3, similar to the level of his routine during the qualifications.
The 18-year-old booked a spot in the floor exercise finals, after finishing fourth with a score of 13.800.

Last November, Yulo bagged bronze in floor exercise in the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships held in Manila.
Sharamkou Yahor of Belarus won gold with 14.533 with a flawless routine and bonus.
Karimi Milad of Kazakhstan took home silver with 14.300, while Croatia's Benovic Aurel clinched bronze with 14.100.
The FIG World Cup Baku marks the younger Yulo's first competition in the senior level.
Yulo will have another shot at a World Cup medal in the high bar final on Sunday.
