MANILA — The red carpet will be rolled out for the third staging of the Women in Sports Awards on Friday at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
The event, a partnership between the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Commission on Women, aims to showcase outstanding Filipina athletes as role models while highlighting the contributions of women leaders in Philippine sports.
PSC commissioner and bowling legend Bong Coo said the star-studded program, which will hand out 83 awards, seeks to reinforce national efforts toward inclusive sports development and gender equality.
“We must really give special attention to our women athletes, including our Para athletes—not just the athletes and their coaches, but also those who help build and promote women’s sports,” Coo said during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum at the PSC Media Room.
The Philippine women’s football team, also known as the Filipinas, will be honored as Athletes of the Year for 2025. Angel Mae Otom will be recognized as Para Athlete of the Year, while Brenda Ramos Zinampan will receive the Masters Award.

Coo added that First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos has been invited to present the major awards and will also receive the distinguished “Ina ng Atletang Pinoy” recognition.
Expected guests include Senators Tito Sotto, Bong Go, and Risa Hontiveros, Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino, and PSC chairman Patrick Gregorio, along with commissioners Edward Hayco, Fritz Gaston, and Walter Torres.
“These awards are for those who provide inspiration for all women in sports,” Coo said.
