The RP Blu Girls finished fourth in the Women's Softball Asia Cup 2025, narrowly missing out on a World Cup qualification.
The Philippine Women's Softball team failed to make it to the podium, after medal matches on the final day of the tournament were canceled due to heavy rain at the Xi’an Physical Education University Softball Stadium in China.
Among the matches called off was the battle for bronze between the Philippines and Chinese Taipei.
With the final matches canceled, the Opening Round standings were used to determine the final standings.
The Blu Girls ended with a 6-3 record, behind Chinese Taipei's 7-2 slate.
The top three were Japan, hosts China and Chinese Taipei, all securing a World Cup berth and spots in the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
During their campaign, the Philippines put up commanding wins against Thailand (15-1), Korea (7-0), India (15-0), Malaysia (14-0), Singapore (13-0) and Hong Kong (12-0). The Blu Girls only lost against the top three squads Japan, China and Chinese Taipei.
Despite not making it to the World Cup, the Blu Girls still secured a spot in the 2026 Asian Games along with Korea, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Thailand.
The Blu Girls are hopeful they can clinch the wildcard slot for the World Cup.
