Naomi Cesar edged out a Vietnamese athlete to claim the gold medal in the women's 800-meters in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, Monday night at the Suphachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Cesar crossed the finish line in 2:10.2 -- a tenth of a second ahead of Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (2:10.3).

Another Filipina athlete, Bernalyn Bejoy, clocked 2:10.6 for the bronze.

"I couldn't have asked for a better result. I think I'm still kind of in shock," Cesar said afterward.

Cesar's win gave the Philippines a clean sweep of the 800-m in the SEA Games, after debutant Hussein Loraña ruled the men's event earlier in the night.

Meanwhile, Robyn Brown and Lauren Hoffman delivered a silver and a bronze in the women's 400-m hurdles.

Brown clocked 57.50 seconds while Hoffman was a shade behind at 57.75-s. Vietnam's Quach Thi Lan took the gold with a time of 56.82-s.

The Philippines took bronze in the women's 4x100m relay, clocking 43.97 seconds to finish behind Thailand (43.88-s) and Vietnam (43.91-s).
