Agatha Wong. Photo courtesy of POC Media PoolBANGKOK, Thailand (UPDATED) — Filipino wushu athlete Agatha Wong extended her dominance in the region after bagging her sixth gold medal at the 33rd edition of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Wong bagged the Philippines' first gold of the day after ruling the Women's Taolu Taijiquan-Taijijian on Sunday at the Ratthaprasasanphakdi Building Government Complex Chaeng Watthana in Bangkok.
Wong tallied 9.783 points to lead all competitors.
Lachkar Basma of Brunei registered 9.780 points for the silver while Singapore’s Law Zeanne Zhi Ning wound up with 9.766 points for the bronze.
Shortly after her win, Wong took to Instagram to celebrate her achievement.
"[Sixth] SEA Games Gold Medal of my career. For God & my country. Salamat Pilipinas!!" she wrote in her post.
It was Wong’s sixth career Games gold, counting her taijiquan triumphs in the 2017 (Malaysia), 2019 (Manila) and 2021 (Vietnam) joust and taijijian in 2019 and 2021.
