MANILA -- Filipina tennis star Alex Eala reached a new career-high on Monday, rising to No. 50 in the latest edition of the WTA rankings.
It's one spot higher than her previous ranking, as the Filipina improved after making it to the round-of-16 of the Hong Kong Open.
Eala's campaign in Hong Kong ended at the hands of eventual champion Victoria Mboko of Canada.

After her stint, Eala said her 2025 has been "really amazing," as she rose through the ranks steadily after her breakthrough in the Miami Open in March.
"The target I had to end the year was top 100, and that was kinda like pushing it for me, and we passed that by a milestone, so I’m so happy," said Eala.
Up next for Eala is the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand in December.
