MANILA -- The Magnolia Hotshots boosted their quarterfinal hopes in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup after a wire-to-wire 135-98 win over Titan Ultra on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Hotshots used a 34-point second quarter to pull away from the Giant Risers, building a 61-41 halftime lead and never looking back.
Clint Chapman torched Titan Ultra for 31 points, while Zav Lucero made seven of his 12 field goals for 19 points on top of eight rebounds.
The Hotshots made 55.8% of their field goals, including three four-pointers -- all courtesy of Javi Gomez de Liano.
The result hiked their record to 5-5, tied with San Miguel for seventh and eighth places in the team standings.
Meanwhile, Titan Ultra dropped to 2-8, as they fell to a fifth straight defeat.
Michael Gilmore had 31 points and 14 rebounds in a losing effort for the Giant Risers, while Joshua Munzon added 24 points.
