MANILA — Rain or Shine has formally retired the jersey of Gabe Norwood, a fitting recognition for "Mr. President's" loyalty and contributions to the organization.
The ceremony took place during the halftime of the Elasto Painters' clash against the Converge FiberXers on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Norwood spent all of his 17 years in the PBA with Rain or Shine, the team which also picked him number one overall in the 2008 Rookie Draft.
For head coach Yeng Guiao, it was just appropriate to give Norwood his well-deserved recognition with the organization.

"Just appropriate recognition and honor for Gabe Norwood. Ang history ng Rain or Shine ay Norwood era and post-Norwood era. Parang 'yan yung kwento ng Rain or Shine ngayon eh. So naging marker siya ng kwento ng franchise ng Rain or Shine," said Guiao last Wednesday.
He won two championships with RoS — the 2012 Governors’ Cup and 2016 Commissioner’s Cup titles.
