MANILA — Elizabeth Means shared Friday why she went through the process of naturalization in the Philippines.
Means is a naturalization candidate for Gilas Pilipinas Women, and she already attended a Congress hearing to kickstart the process alongside Bennie Boatwright and Malick Diouf.
Means, an NCAA Division II player from the Westminster University in the United States, said coach Anton Altamirano approached her and opened up about the chance.

"It sounded amazing," Means expressed. "It excited me and decided to move forward with that process."
"I was first approached by Coach Anton [Altamirano] with the opportunity and I got to learn about what it would mean playing for the Philippines national team."

Means said she's looking forward for the opportunity to rep the national tri-colors and this "amazing country."
"I think it's a really cool opportunity to be naturalized and get to be accepted into such an amazing culture and amazing country and get to play through 3x3 basketball which allows for a lot of international travel which I'm excited about and get to compete at a really high level."
Means will join the Pilipinas Aguilas in the upcoming Manila Hustle 3x3 from February 7 to 8 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
