MANILA -- The Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 Women's program has received a boost ahead of their participation in the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series.

Uratex and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Wednesday announced that they have renewed their partnership, with the mattress firm reinforcing its support for the program.

Uratex is the primary backer of top women's 3x3 squad Uratex Dream.

"We thank the SBP for once again giving our organization the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of women's basketball in the country," Uratex team owner Peachy Medina said.

"The SBP values strong relationships with our partners and we've seen just how committed Uratex Dream is in helping our female basketball players," said SBP executive director Erika Dy. "We produced great results in our first year together so it was natural for us to pursue even more success moving forward."

The Gilas Women are looking to improve upon their campaign in the 2024 season of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series, where the country ranked 18th out of 51 teams from all over the world.

Their best finish in a tournament was at the fifth spot in the series' stop in Wuhan, China.

Through their 2024 campaign, the Philippines gained more than 20 spots in the women's 3x3 rankings -- a crucial development for the squad that is hoping to qualify for the 3x3 competition in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

"The goal is to compete as often as possible and score as many points as possible," added Dy. "It's a loaded schedule but we've been working hard to help our Gilas 3x3 Women prepare for this series of events. They have been very active both here and abroad and all this experience should be valuable for the 2025 FIBA 3x3 Women's Series."

This year's Gilas Women pool includes: Mikka Cacho, Kaye Pingol, Tantoy Ferrer, Lexi Pana, and Sam Harada.

Their campaign starts in Chengdu, China on May 2 and 3.
