MANILA -- Barangay Ginebra got back on track in emphatic fashion on Sunday night, overpowering NLEX 104-74 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The lopsided result allowed the Gin Kings to regain their winning ways in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup after back-to-back losses to Meralco and San Miguel Beer.
Veteran big man Japeth Aguilar led the way for the Gin Kings with 25 points, while Stephen Holt added 20 markers and Scottie Thompson contributed a 12-point, 11-assist double-double.
The Road Warriors fell behind early, trailing 26-11 after an explosive opening quarter by Ginebra. But they crawled their way back in the second frame and entered the break down by just seven points, 40-33.
NLEX stayed within striking distance in the early goings of the third period, but Aguilar made sure that the Gin Kings stayed in control.
He scored 13 points in the quarter to help Ginebra build a double-digit lead, and the Road Warriors had no answers in the final quarter.
NLEX fell to 4-2 in the conference, with their three-game winning run halted.
Xyrus Torres had 17 points to lead NLEX, but star point guard Robert Bolick was kept in check by the Ginebra defense and went just 1-of-7 from the field for four points.
