MANILA – The East Asia Super League (EASL) is doing its part to help Filipinos affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Tino in Cebu.
The invitational basketball league announced last week it will host its first-ever charity basketball game for disaster relief in Cebu.
The Meralco Bolts will go up against the Macau Black Bears on November 15 at the Cebu Coliseum.
"All ticket proceeds will go toward helping Cebu get back on its feet," the EASL said in its social media post.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the death toll from Typhoon Tino has risen close to 200. Cebu province was among those hardest-hit by the typhoon which produced significant rainfall in the Visayas, prompting calls for donations and relief.
The Bolts are currently competing in the EASL 2025-2026 season, as the only basketball club from the Philippines.
