MANILA -- Roger Pogoy found his mark from long range to power the TNT Tropang 5G to a 110-103 victory over Converge in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup, Saturday at the Chavit Coliseum in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Pogoy made six of his 13 attempts from 3-point territory en route to 27 points, leading the way for the Tropang 5G to get their second win of the conference.
Four other players scored in double-digits for TNT as they bounced back from a loss to Barangay Ginebra in their previous assignment.
Playing a key role in the end game was Rey Nambatac, who came to the rescue after the Tropang 5G squandered a 14-point advantage.
After missing his first four attempts from the field, Nambatac drilled two four-point shots in the closing stretch to help TNT break away from a 90-all deadlock and take control of the game anew.
He finished with 10 points in the contest, while Calvin Oftana scored 18 points -- making all four of his three-pointers -- while Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and Kelly Williams each had 14 markers.
The Tropang 5G made 20 of their 43 attempts from distance, while the FiberXers made just nine three-pointers throughout the game.
TNT is now 2-1, while Converge is 1-1 in the conference.
Justin Arana and Alec Stockton had 19 points each for Converge, while Justine Baltazar and Schonny Winston each contributed 17 points. Rookie guard Juan Gomez de Liano had 14 points, nine rebounds and six dimes, though he shot just 4-of-11 from the field.
