MANILA — The NorthPort Batang Pier offered its support for the victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine through an outreach program last Monday, October 28.
The PBA squad went to Barangay Sto. Niño in Biñan City, Laguna, to help 200 families and 400 individuals, offering ready-to-eat food, sacks of rice, slippers, and other relief goods in one of the towns that was badly affected by Kristine last week.
A total of 125 people have been reported dead due to the combined impact of severe tropical storms Kristine and Leon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday.

Among those who joined were NorthPort head coach Bonnie Tan and his staff, Allyn Bulanadi, Fran Yu, Damie Cuntapay, Sidney Onwubere, Cade Flores, Paul Zamar, William Navarro, Paolo Taha, Evan Nelle, and Abu Tratter.

The former Jose Rizal University player is currently out on bail following a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna, and is also suspended by the PBA for "conduct detrimental to the league."

Amores, who was picked by NorthPort in the PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft, will miss all of the Batang Pier's games in the Season 49 Commissioner's Cup. His salary from those games will be deducted from his total earnings from his contract with the club.
However, he is still allowed by the PBA to join practices and other activities of NorthPort, thus his appearance in the outreach program.
According to the NDRRMC, more than 935,000 people have been displaced by the storms, with 1.79 million families or 7.13 million individuals affected.
