Russia's Defense Ministry released video on Sunday of what is said to be suicide drone strikes on a Ukrainian military column in Russia’s Kursk region.
Reuters was able to partially confirm the location of the video as Sudzha from the road and river layout, the bridge and the buildings, which matched satellite imagery of the area. The date when the video was recorded could not be verified independently.
Ukrainian troops seized about 1,300 square km of the region in August last year in what Kyiv said was an attempt to gain a bargaining chip in future negotiations and to force Russia to shift forces from eastern Ukraine.
Russia has been pressing its push to regain control of the region with some success in recent days.
Open source maps on Friday showed Kyiv's contingent in Kursk nearly surrounded after rapid Russian advances.
