MANILA — Weather bureau PAGASA said it was monitoring two low pressure areas (LPA) within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday morning.

Both LPAs are not expected to develop into tropical cyclones.

The first LPA, which formed from a cloud cluster off Samar on Tuesday afternoon, was in the vicinity of Baao, Camarines Sur at 8 a.m.

It will bring scattered rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and parts of Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa, and Bicol Region while crossing southern Luzon.

It may emerge over the West Philippine Sea by Thursday and eventually dissipate.

Meanwhile, the second LPA was located 1,580 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, with no effect on the country’s weather.

It will move eastward, away from the country, and may eventually merge with the broader circulation of the approaching typhoon Dolphin.

Dolphin is forecast to hit eastern China next weekend and not enter the PAR.

Up to 4 tropical cyclones may enter PAR in August, PAGASA says

A monsoon break is currently prevailing over the Philippines as the southwest monsoon or Habagat is not reaching the country.

However, thunderstorms may still bring heavy rains, strong winds, lightning, and thunder in the afternoon or evening across many parts of the country.
