MANILA — House Infrastructure Committee Co-Chairperson Terry Ridon of Bicol Saro party-list is urging the Independent Commission for Infrastructure to also look into the flood control projects in Cebu and other areas that experienced severe flooding during the onslaught of typhoon Tino.

He issued the statement after floodwaters from the recent typhoon swept away cars, riverside homes, and massive shipping containers in Cebu.

The death toll in the province was at 76 as of Wednesday, while at least 17 died in other provinces.

Typhoon Tino death toll soars past 90

He said the ICI should "immediately" go to Cebu and other areas affected by typhoon Tino after their visit to Davao City.

“Para makita at masiyasat kung alin po ‘yung mga gumana, alin po ‘yung mga hindi gumana ng flood control projects sa mga lugar po na ito,” Ridon said.

(So they can see and investigate which flood control projects worked and which didn't)

He pointed out that QM Builders, among the 15 contractors awarded the most flood-control projects, is based in Cebu.

"So, I think ‘yung lahat ng kanyang mga proyekto sa probinsya ng Cebu, ay dapat masiyasat ng buo,” he added.

(So, I think all of the company's projects in Cebu province should be fully inspected)

He said that the ICI seems done with its inspections in Bulacan — it referred an interim report to the Office of the Ombudsman last week — and that the panel can use the "investigative template" it used there to look into flooding in Cebu.
