MANILA — Kyle Echarri said he is proud of how much his “Roja” co-star Kai Montinola has grown as an artist since their “MMK” episode.
Montinola’s brief appearance in the final episode of “Saving Grace” led her first acting project in the MMK episode alongside Echarri.
“Sobrang natutuwa ako sa acting niya. She has only been in the industry for a year— almost two, pero ramdam mo lalim niya as a person and nilalabas niya iyon sa screen. It is very rare to find that in this generation of saturated online emotions. And for her to be able to translate that sa mga tao nakakatuwa and super nice watching her,” he said in an interview. “I always tell her this, how proud I am of her growth. Not just as an actor but as an artist and as a person.”
Echarri added he believes Montinola is wise beyond her years.
“Her wisdom at a young age— it is a breath of fresh air especially in this generation. To hear the way she talks and how she brings herself,” he said.
Meanwhile, the actor said “Roja” has helped him grow his on-screen discipline.
“What I focused on is my on screen discipline. Lalo na magkalapit ng onti character ko sa Pamilya Sagrado. I had to find a different way to attack the same emotion on a different scale but with the same amount of heart,” he said.
“That is what I have been working on. Pinaka goal ko ma-differentiate lahat ng emotions given the similarities.“
