MANILA — At least 23 international flights have been cancelled while three were diverted due to the exchange of airstrikes in the Middle East, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Sunday, March 1.
Since Feb. 28, 23 international flights have been cancelled:
- Cebu Pacific – 2
- Philippine Airlines – 8
- Qatar Airways – 2
- Gulf Air – 1
- Etihad Airways – 4
- Emirates – 6
Diverted flights are as follows:
- Philippine Airlines – 2
- Qatar Airways – 1
CAAP advised affected passengers to coordinate directly with their respective airlines for rebooking options, refunds, and updated flight information.
Middle East-bound passengers advised to check flight details amid Iran-US/Israel conflict
Philippine Airlines announced that the following flights, scheduled Feb. 28 to March 2, have been cancelled or diverted:
Cancelled:
- PR684 (Manila – Doha) – March 1
- PR685 (Doha – Manila) – March 2
- PR658 / PR659 (Manila – Dubai – Manila) – March 1
- PR654 / PR655 – (Manila – Riyadh – Manila) – March 1
- PR685 (Doha -Manila) – March 1
- PR684 (Manila – Doha) – Feb. 28
- PR655 (Riyadh – Manila) – Feb. 28
- PR659 (Dubai – Manila) – Feb. 28
Diverted:
- PR654 (Manila – Riyadh) - departed Manila on Saturday, February 28, and arrived back in Manila at 10:40 p.m.
- PR658 (Manila – Dubai) - departed Manila on Saturday, February 28, and arrived back in Manila at 9:52 p.m.
Cebu Pacific, meanwhile, offered free rebooking and travel fund conversion for customers with scheduled flights to and from Dubai on March 1 to 4, and Riyadh from March 1 to 5.
CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario assured the public the agency is "closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East and are in constant coordination with airlines, airport authorities, and international aviation partners."
He added: "The safety and security of passengers and flight operations remain our highest priority.”
The United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran on Saturday.
