MANILA — Repertory Philippines has announced an all-star lineup of narrators in a special production of “Peter and the Wolf,” a landmark collaboration between the theater company, the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and Ballet Philippines.
Singer-actress Karylle Tatlonghari, media personality Tim Yap, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa will take turns lending their voices to Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved symphonic fairytale, which will be staged alongside “Little Red Riding Hood” in a special double bill, brought to life through a blend of live orchestral music, theatrical narration, and ballet.

Karylle, a veteran of the Rep stage known for her memorable performances in musicals like “Carousel,”will step in as narrator. Her extensive experience in musical theater is expected to add depth and charm to the storytelling.
Meanwhile, Yap, who traces his theatrical roots to Rep’s “Lost in Yonkers,” returns to the company that gave him his first break. Known for his dynamic presence in media and events, Yap is set to bring a fresh energy to the classic narration.
Ressa, co-founder of Rappler and a 2021 Nobel Peace Prize winner, rounds out the trio of narrators. Currently a professor of practice at Columbia University, Ressa’s participation marks a rare crossover into the world of theater, with Rep praising her ability to bring "gravitas and nuance" to the production.
Performances are scheduled for August 1 (Gala Night, 8 p.m.), August 2 (2 p.m. and 7 p.m.), and August 3 (2 p.m. and 7 p.m.) at The Theatre at Solaire.
