MANILA — Tony winner and Broadway star Lea Salonga has been chosen as the latest celebrity to be immortalized as a Madame Tussauds wax figure.

The announcement was made on social media account of Madame Tussauds Singapore.

"Shining, Shimmering, Splendid! The legendary Lea Salonga will have her very own wax figure in #MadameTussuadsSG! Are you as excited as we are?" she said in the caption.

Salonga said it was an honor and privilege to be chosen to be part of the artists immortalized as a wax figure.

"Hello everybody, I am super delighted to be joining Madame Tussauds with my very own wax figure. Are you ready?"

"When my manager said that this is happening, Madame Tussauds was interested in turning me into a wax figure, I was like, 'Oh my God!' It was an honor and privilege to be asked. It's fantastic," she said.

Salonga was last seen on Broadway in "Here Lies Love," where she played Aurora Aquino in a limited engagement until August 13 last year.

"Here Lies Love" got four Tony Award nominations including Best Choreography, Best Sound, Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theater, and Best Scenic Design of a Musical.
