In Philippine street slang, “ea” basically refers to a girl or a woman. It is a shortened term of the word “eabab” which is a reverse slang version of the Filipino word “babae”. The term was popularized by Fyang Smith on Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11, and quickly went viral among Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Today, it is widely used across various social media platforms and in online gaming communities.
On the other hand, the slang word “eka” is used to refer to a boy or a man. Stemming from the term “ekalal” or “lalake” when spelled backwards.
