After being brutally tortured by prison officials for allegedly inciting the riot that erupted inside the National Correctional Facility (NCF), Gabo (Coco Martin) is urged by his senior cellmates to escape that very night before Jail Chief Macaraig (Jess Lapid Jr.) and his minions can finish him off.
Determined to help him, Tomas (Levi Ignacio) handed him a key that he seemed to have secretly stolen from one of the jail guards, which Gabo accepted and indeed used to free himself up while everyone was asleep. Moving with extreme caution, he manages to slip into the darkness and evade the roving guards, then makes his way toward the covered court.
However, just as freedom seems within reach, a powerful prison spotlight locks onto him, triggering blaring sirens throughout the facility. Much to his shock, the guards immediately intercept him and riddle him with bullets afterwards, fatally hitting him in various parts of his body that caused him to collapse and lose consciousness.
But in a shocking twist, the entire heart-pounding sequence is revealed to be nothing more than a vivid scenario playing out in Gabo’s mind as he stares at the key in his hand. Choosing to face the truth instead of running from it, Gabo hands the key over to Tatang (Joonee Gamboa) and firmly declares, “Hindi ako tatakas dahil paninindigan ko kung ano ang katotohanan.” Apparently, his decision earns the admiration and approval of his fellow inmates.
