In trio friendships, there's always one member who ends up as the target of nonstop teasing. And then that one person claps back in their defense, so the banter gets funnier because nobody wants to concede anymore.
That's the vibe we get whenever Vhong Navarro, Vice Ganda, and Jhong Hilario are together hosting the "It's Showtime" segment ‘Laro Laro Pick.’ So for your daily dose of entertainment and good vibes, here’s a Kapamilya Update compilation of their funniest, most chaotic banter.
Let’s start with the episode where Vice felt like Vhong and Jhong were ganging up on her. As they interviewed a ‘Laro Laro Pick’ player who works as a driver, Vice casually asked, "May lisensiya ka ba?" to which Vhong and Jhong had synchronized reactions, "Syempre! Magda-drive ba kung walang lisensya? Dapat meron! Anong tanong 'yun?"
Stunned by the sudden ‘attack,’ Vice could only dramatically complain, "Wow! Bugbugan ah! Maling-mali si kabayo ah! Pagtulungan natin!" But moments later, she found the chance to fire back when Vhong asked player Banjo, "Kung bibisita kami sa inyo, saan mo kami dadalhin?" which she interrupted with, "Teka lang, bakit isasama mo ako?! Ang pangit ng ugali mo nagde-decide ka para sa amin." And to add to the comedic sparring, she went after Jhong’s outfit that had a banana print, which she said made him look "unggoy na unggoy."
The trio got lost in translation yet again when Vice, while talking to an ambulance driver contestant, recalled a traffic experience involving an "ambulansya na walang sakay," which confused Vhong and Jhong, who reacted at the same time, wrapping their heads around how an ambulance could possibly be moving around if there wasn't even a driver inside.
As they kept talking over each other while trying to correct Vice, the latter felt like she was being cornered by her friends. "Wow! Dami kong kalaban ah!" Vice hit back. "Parang trenta 'yung kumuyog sa akin ah! Co-hosting, 'di ba? Parang laban-laban tayo, ah? Anong channel kayo?"
We all know the "It's Showtime" family's 'love language' is clowning each other’s outfits on national TV. In another episode, Vice flexed her 'Barbie' arms while serving beauty shots in a cute polka-dotted spaghetti strap dress. But, Jhong said the look was giving 'Captain Barbie' because of Vice's muscles. Vice, of course, chose 'violence' right back and compared Jhong’s yellow-and-black striped shirt to an inmate's uniform.
There was also an episode where the side seam of Vice’s leggings ripped open mid-show. Instead of helping their friend, Vhong and Jhong saw an opportunity for 'kalokohan' and inserted coin into the hole, saying it reminded them of a jukebox machine slot.
Sometimes the banter turns into 'pisikalan' just like what happened when Vice playfully pushed Vhong off the stage platform in the game arena. The roast battle started when Vhong teased Vice about her skydiving experience, saying her wig probably flew off mid-air.
Vice then found an opening to redirect the 'asaran' to Jhong, who described skydiving as that wild feeling of “humihiwalay ang kaluluwa sa katawan” because of the insane adrenaline rush. Vice then joked that maybe Jhong’s soul just didn’t want to go back to his body anymore, sending everyone, including Jhong, into another round of laughter. From there, Vice and Jhong formed an alliance against Vhong, playfully calling him out for being “too perfect."
And who wouldn’t crack up at the trio's conversation when they came up with animal-inspired monikers for themselves. Vice told Vhong, “Huwag ka na mag-isip! As is pwede ka!” Haha! Vhong called himself the “Bear,” likely inspired by a milk brand which reminds us of his fair complexion, while Vice picked the title “Dark Horse” and Jhong thought of "Wild Monkey." Then Vice suddenly couldn’t stop laughing when she realized their chosen monikers were kind of accurate to their real-life visuals.
If comedy duos are a favorite among Pinoys, then maybe it’s time we level up into the era of 'comedy trio.' Vice, Vhong and Jhong prove that laughter is better when it comes in threes.
