Much to its advantage, “The Blood Sisters” borrows the best elements from each of these four genres and proudly introduces to the Kapamilya audience the complex yet intertwined lives of triplets Erika, Carrie, and Agatha, all portrayed by Erich Gonzales.
Filled with perplexing twists and shocking revelations, the series traces the contrasting lives of triplets Erika, Carrie, and Agatha who were separated at birth. Their estrangement began when the childless, affluent Almeda couple, Debbie (Dina Bonnevie) and Norman (Jestoni Alarcon), arranged an in vitro fertilization (IVF) agreement with their housekeeper, Adele (Cherry Pie Picache). However, things took an unexpected turn when the surrogacy attempt ended in miscarriage.
In his effort to save his wife from the pain of grief, Norman took matters into his own hands, and seduced Adele. Later on, the housekeeper gave birth to a set of three girls while Debbie remained clueless of what happened. Despite having no idea that there was more than one baby, Norman executed his sinister plan to steal a child from Adele.
Viewers soon discover that Carrie, the child Norman took, grows up to become a respected doctor in her field. In contrast, Erika, who was abandoned on the streets, learns to make a living as a pole dancer. Meanwhile, Agatha, the child left in Adele’s care, develops resentment toward her mother and a questionable inclination for quick-money schemes. Once again, the triplets are thrust into a whirlwind of chaos when a syndicate goes after Erika for witnessing a murder and for allegedly taking a ledger that exposes the organization’s shady operations.
Aside from the teleserye’s intensely engrossing plot, Erich’s impressive range and versatility as an actress captivated viewers both in the Philippines and abroad. Beyond highlighting the realities of complex family dynamics, the show also imparts meaningful lessons on unconditional love, trauma, and reconnection, shedding light on issues commonly experienced by ordinary Filipinos.
The cast also includes Kapamilya artists Ejay Falcon, who played Antonio “Tonyo” Alipio, and Enchong Dee, who portrayed Samuel Hechanova.
