Blood vs Duty” actors Gerald Anderson and Baron Geisler got comfortable and introspective during the engaging segment “First Thought, No Filter,” in the May 9 episode of Jeepney TV’s “Stars on Stars.”

When quizzed about their unforgettable love teams that launched them into stardom, Baron instantly thought of his former love team partner Jodi Sta. Maria, whom he first acted with on “Tabing Ilog” from 1999 to 2003.

As for Gerald, he was entirely discreet in mentioning his first love team, but he made sure to express his sincere appreciation for their journey together. “I did have a couple of love teams, pero ‘yung first love team ko, it was the beginning of everything… Wala ako dito ngayon if not because of that love team,” he clarified.

More about the current trajectory of their careers, the two actors then elaborated on their opinions regarding the 6 AM call time during their filming schedules. Gerald neatly described it as typically early and added that it implies that a long working day was about to unfold. He also mentioned that he does more when there are afternoon plans in place since he can accomplish a workout session before heading to the filming location.

On the other hand, Baron is a proud morning person, who can also perform well when given a 5 AM call time, ultimately thinking that he can return home earlier than usual.

Before moving on to the next topic, Baron sweetly spoke about Gerald’s directing skills during “Blood vs Duty,” particularly the scene wherein Gerald as Jalil Abubakar was violently chased by Baron as Felix Domingo.

“There were some scenes and some moments in ‘Blood vs Duty’ na nakapag-direct ako… Whenever I give comments or suggestions, it’s always for the show [and] the bigger picture,” Gerald explained.

In terms of the best actor award, they gave each other the title, with Baron highlighting that the entire cast of “Blood vs Duty” are also worthy of it. They then reminisced about their past projects together, most especially “Tayong Dalawa” in 2009 and “Nathaniel” in 2015.

Baron also described the award as “grace,” while Gerald opted for “icing on the cake,” emphasizing that they both work hard as actors, not simply for the sake of recognition but primarily for the audience’s appreciation.

In dealing with bashers, Baron chose to focus more on the good things in his life. “Uulitin ko ‘yung grace… Dahil sa grace ni God, tahimik, walang mga bashers simula nung nagpatuloy na ako,” he remarked.

Similarly, Gerald considered hate irrational, given the fact that those who harbor hatred and the subjects of their disapproval do not personally know each other. “People will say kung ano gusto nilang sabihin…Very toxic world right now sa social media,” he stated.

Completing the segment in a memorable way, both actors finally delved into the “TOTGA,” or “The One That Got Away,” discussion with chuckles. Gerald stepped forward, softly saying that the lessons he got from the heartbreaking experience will definitely make him a better partner in the future.

“That’s the worst thing you can do sa isang tao na mahal na mahal ka… In my situation, hindi ibig sabihin na parang wala lang siya sa’yo. Siguro sa stage or season ng buhay mo, may inuna ka lang,” he detailed.

Finding it deeply relatable, Baron also responds honestly with his sentiments. “I took them for granted… So lahat ng mga pagkakamali ko noon sa kanila, ina-apply ko ngayon nang mabuti… At least we’re learning… We’re growing,” he conveyed.
