In her three decades in the entertainment industry, Angel Aquino has taken on a wide array of television and film roles that consistently showcase her range, skill, and versatility as an actress. And in her latest role in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” as one of the antagonists, Jackie Guerrero—a scheming, greedy, and ambitious politician who’s also a fiercely protective mother and wife—her compelling portrayal truly captivates audiences, making them love to hate her.

As she exits the well-loved primetime series following the shocking death of her character, let us revisit 10 of Angel’s most intense acting moments as Jackie via this Kapamilya Tolist feature.

Arguably, wives who struggle to have a harmonious relationship with their mothers-in-law can relate to Jackie, as we witnessed her constantly bicker with the fierce and domineering matriarch of the Guerrero family, Doña Pilar (Celia Rodriguez).

What initially seemed like simple misunderstandings or petty disputes between them was later revealed to have deeper roots: Doña Pilar’s intense anger toward Jackie stemmed from the fact that Jackie had once been the side mistress of her husband, the Guerrero patriarch, Don Gustavo (Dante Rivero). To further complicate matters, they share a child—Miguelito (Jake Cuenca)—whom they made Roberto acknowledge as his own to cover up the illicit affair, and, allegedly, to hide Roberto’s true gender identity.

Doña Pilar may tend to embarrass and insult her—often in front of their family and other people—yet Jackie never backed down. She always came up with witty, biting remarks that could silence her mother-in-law and make her walk away.

Jackie may be irritating at times due to her cunning and sometimes irrational behavior, but she is also undeniably admirable for her ability to fend for herself. Among those instances were when she castigated Miguelito for harassing and objectifying Fatima (Andrea Brillantes)—even if she eventually suggested using her for their family’s political gains—as well as when she was able to bravely resist the wicked advances of Don Gustavo to her, not letting herself be abused by him again.

She also stood up against Olivia (Chanda Romero), who called her names in public during the faceoff between the Guerreros and the Montenegros at a polling precinct, and to Divina (Rosanna Roces), whom she caught hitting on Roberto. Even though their marriage is regarded as “loveless,” which existed more out of convenience, Jackie still did everything she could to hold the family together and protect their reputation and position at the same time.

Like Doña Pilar, there was also an instance when Roberto somewhat reminded her that she wouldn’t be part of the Guerrero family nor be in politics if not for him. That may be really the case, yet Jackie insisted that she worked hard for her position in their family and fought hard to establish her name. Thus, she wouldn’t let a good-for-nothing person like Divina tarnish or destroy everything that she’d struggled for.

Eventually, Jackie’s composure finally snapped when she caught Divina being intimate with Roberto in his office at city hall, leading her to relentlessly attack her.

From usual catfights and confrontations, Angel proved that she can also do fight scenes via Jackie’s riveting duel against Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) in the March 6 episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” as they tried to finish off one another when their paths crossed amid the chaos of the city hall siege. Unfortunately for her, Marites outwitted her by evading her attack, which resulted in her tragic fall and death.

Will Jackie’s death intensify the Guerreros’ desire to exact vengeance on Tanggol? Let’s find out by not missing the last five episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” airing weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, ALLTV2, A2Z, iWant, and Kapamilya Online Live (KOL).
