In this exclusive interview with two of the extraordinary main actors of the hit teleserye, Jake Cuenca (who plays the vengeful Edong Santiago) and JM de Guzman (who plays Edong’s younger brother, Lucas Santiago), enthusiastically highlight and review their favorite scenes.
For JM, he quips that he has yet to reveal his most beloved sequence, as it is actually the carefully hidden final chapter itself. He then zeroes in on the unforeseen death of Steve Kyo (portrayed by Christian Ty) at the hands of his own brother, Edong.
Topping his selection off with another character-defining moment, JM also mentions the poignant moment wherein he was affectionately speaking to his departed mother Dolores (Jennica Garcia) on her tomb in Amurao’s cemetery.
Jake cuts right to the chase, choosing Edong’s first terrifying and powerful phone call to Erica (portrayed by Kaila Estrada) from his time inside Bagumbayan Prison, after fourteen years of silence and suffering.
Another specific instance was when Edong had mercilessly stabbed Yuri in front of Lucas. This comes off as tremendously shocking for Lucas, for the reason that Yuri was among his few close friends and a reliable private investigator. Jake notes that it sheds light on the unspeakable traumas that Edong had endured for years, which have broken his moral compass for good.
Ultimately, Jake reveals that one of the best and, at the same time, hardest scenes he has ever done in his career was found throughout the course of the show’s ending. He stresses that the immense production efforts, heavy-hitting emotions, unique change of physicalities, and more undoubtedly contributed to the satisfying conclusion.
Jake goes on to say that he intends to finish his role the same way he started it, instilling extreme shock factor and authentic fear. “Abangan n’yo ‘yung ending namin, it’s gonna be something memorable and iconic for sure,” he teases.
