As Mel (Sue Ramirez) struggles with the traumatic outcome of Anton’s (Jameson Blake) revenge in the form of a deepfake video that falsely used her identity, she unexpectedly overhears Erica’s (Kaila Estrada) encouraging words to her mother, Margie (Karen Timbol).
The lessons that Erica had imparted to Margie were actually derived from her past friendship with Louisa (Mutya Orquia), who had been a true inspiration to the rest of her friends for being resilient despite the prejudice that she suffered even in her death.
Similar to Erica’s experience, Mel unexpectedly reunites with Louisa in a dream where she goes back to Amurao High to try and find the guidance she needs at the moment. At first, it seemed as if Mel was talking to a nonexistent Louisa, asking if she felt the same during the time when Kyle (Kobie Brown) took advantage of her and ruined her reputation.
Surprisingly, a ghostly yet the same kind-hearted Louisa appears beside Mel. She listens intently to Mel’s pain of being insignificant, dirty, and just wanting to disappear. Then, Louisa genuinely answers when Mel desperately asks how she survived her hardships in Amurao.
She sweetly leans her head on Mel’s shoulders, saying that she overcame her life’s greatest hurdles because of the courage her friends had unconditionally given her, particularly Mel, Erica, Beth (Charlie Dizon), and Alice (Janella Salvador).
Mel doubts Louisa’s words, stressing that things are way different than before, but Louisa continues to comfort her, conveying that Mel can also change for the better and start anew.
Still fretting about the impending loss of what she had built for her successful career throughout the years, Mel feels utter hopelessness at the thought of giving everything up officially. Heartily, Louisa assures Mel that she can let things fall apart, noting that there’s no point in enduring lies when it actually makes her live a miserable life.
Mel’s dream ends with Louisa reminding her that she can definitely start again as long as she’s breathing and that not everyone gets a chance to do so.
Will Mel choose to follow the path of her healing? Find out in “What Lies Beneath,” airing weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, ALLTV, and iWant.
