For his 10th transformation and third gender-switch, Jason Dy once again astounds everyone with his mind-blowing and totally spot-on portrayal of American rapper Cardi B performing one of her popular hits, “I Like It,” in this round of “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”
When hosts Jhong Hilario and Vhong Navarro ask how he feels about rapping in her third female icon, the “Prince of Soul” candidly responds, “‘Yong mga previous na gender-switch ko, mahirap na ‘yon, ah? Pero ito added challenge pa kasi nagra-rap naman ako. Ibang discipline ang pagra-rap. Hindi lang siya basta nagsasabi ka ng mga word nang mabilis—may cadence, may rhythm. Iba talaga. So, saludo ako sa lahat ng mga rapper.”
Aside from her rapping and songwriting prowess and her striking personality, Cardi is also famous for her signature rolled-R catchphrase “Okurrr,” which, according to the internet and Jason, is her playful way to say “‘okay,’ ‘affirmation,’ or ‘sass.’ Thus, Jhong challenges the other celebrity performers to use “Okurrr” in a sentence, to which Alexa Ilacad, BGYO’s Akira Morishita, and Rufa Mae Quinto, enthusiastically ride along.
Juror Ogie Alcasid also joins the fun by incorporating “Okurrr” into his comments on Jason’s electrifying performance. He expresses his immense appreciation for the preparations that Jason has done for this, from memorizing the song and perfecting the routines. His fellow juror, Gary Valenciano, on the other hand, says that he didn’t see any hint of Jason in this transformation and goes on to call it an outstanding performance.
Last but definitely not least is Sharon Cuneta, who also joins the hosts’ “okurrr” challenge by singing a bit of one of her classic hits, “Bituing Walang Ningning.” The “Megastar” praises Jason’s consistent, compelling transformation into Cardi, noting that he has truly captured the rapper’s attitude and showmanship. She also expresses her hope that he gets more opportunities in acting, saying he genuinely deserves it.
