Lieutenant Areza (Ejay Falcon) and Lucas (Marc Abaya) face off in a head-to-head battle in the January 16 episode of “Roja.” Lt. Areza and his team save Macky (Kobie Brown) from being held by the goons, while Lucas tries to get hold of them. He attempts to chase Macky, but Areza pursues him further.
Later, both of them run out of bullets, forcing them to flee with Areza chasing after Lucas. Lucas pulls out a knife, challenging the police officer to fight him. Areza removes his protective helmet, while Lucas throws down his knife, and the two engage in a fistfight.
Lucas then attempts to attack Areza with the knife, saying, “Alam mo, lahat kayong mga pulis pare-pareho lang kayo. Para kayong mga ipis, pinapatay.” He follows this with the revelation that he killed Major Domingo (Bart Guingona). This sends Areza into a fury, and he now attempts to stab Lucas.
The latter only laughs and mocks Areza, “Pare-pareho kayong mga pulis! Lahat kayo, mga baboy. Tulad ng bossing mo no’ng pinatay ko siya!” Areza grabs the knife once more and tries to kill Lucas, but Emil (Joel Torre) manages to shoot him from behind, causing him to fall to the side of the road.
Emil rushes to Lucas and helps him escape. When they look down, Areza is nowhere to be found.
