Fans are buzzing about the entrance of Kolette Madelo and Binsoy Namoca in the Kapamiya action-drama series "Sins of the Father," where they take on exciting new roles as Tin and Josh, hackers who will find themselves caught up in the story of Samuel (Gerald Anderson).
The two "PBB Gen 11" alums are totally overwhelmed by the positive feedback they’ve been receiving, especially since this marks Kolette’s very first acting project and only the second for Binsoy. "'Yung mga comments na nakikita namin, good or bad, ginagawa naming fuel para mas pagbutihin pa ang acting, mas mag-aral pang mag-acting para more projects," shared Kolette during their Kapamilya Chat interview.
"No'ng nabalitaan ko na magiging parte ako ng 'Sins of the Father,' tumalon ako sa saya," Binsoy recalled. Being handpicked for roles in a series this big was beyond what they expected as newcomers, so they made sure to prepare as much as they could.
But in reality, as is often the case in teleserye productions, they were only given a few days before being called to set and were only briefed about the core of their characters on their very first taping day. The pressure was real, but it lessened when they realized their roles weren’t too far from their own 'makulit' personalities and dynamic in real life.
For Kolette and Binsoy, it feels surreal just thinking how far they’ve come, from doing acting tasks inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house to now working on the set of a major teleserye. "Grabe! Ang swerte talaga namin, na dati nasa labas lang kami normal na tao, ngayon marami na kaming acting na nagagawa," shared Kolette.
This is also a dream come true for Binsoy, who's always wanted to be a versatile actor who can both make people laugh and move them to tears. That’s why, in one of the latest episodes where he had to showcase his dramatic chops, Binsoy really poured his emotions into the scene. When asked how he prepared for that, he said it was all about internal work. Inner monologue and throwing lines with his co-star proved to be helpful as well. To his surprise, he managed to bring out the tears even before the cameras started rolling.
After dipping his toes into drama, Binsoy hopes to take on action next, which isn’t too far-fetched, since the series also has its fair share of action scenes. One of the most raved-about recently was the “1 vs 100” fight sequence of Samuel, which Gerald himself directed. "Gusto kong maranasan kung paano mabugbog," Binsoy quipped.
Talking more about that sequence, both Binsoy and Kolette had nothing but praise for Gerald's skill as their lead actor and as a first-time director. They described the outcome as intense, saying it really showed the entire team’s hard work and effort.
While Binsoy considers Samuel as one of his favorite characters in the story and the one he'd love to swap with if given the chance, Kolette likes the character of Arissa, played by Francine Diaz, because of her backstory. But if she ever got the chance to act as Arissa, she’d put her own spin on it and make the character more aggressive and ready to fight back in physical confrontations. Kolette added that she’s willing to take on anything the creatives would ask her to do, even an abduction scene sounds exciting to her.
Alongside Kolette and Binsoy, “PBB Gen 11” alum Dylan Yturralde and “PBB Collab”’s River Joseph also join as part of the newest cast additions. Also part of the series' main cast are Jessy Mendiola, JC De Vera, RK Bagatsing, Shaina Magdayao, Seth Fedelin, Joko Diaz, and Tirso Cruz III.
