Just in case you’ve missed it, “Her Majasty” Maja Salvador is finally making her long-awaited primetime comeback soon, as she’s set to join the star-studded cast of the highly anticipated ABS-CBN teleserye starring James Reid and Kathryn Bernardo.
The fantastic news was divulged by Dreamscape Entertainment on September 5 (Friday), through a video reveal that they’ve posted across their social media platforms, flashing the words “Someone is going to mess with them” (pertaining to James and Kathryn) and three of them in a photoshoot altogether.
This exhilarating announcement comes a week after Dreamscape confirmed that the Asia’s Superstar and the Multimedia Prince are going to be paired with each other in the upcoming series, which also serves as their teleserye comeback and their first time to work together in an acting project.
As we look forward to seeing Maja again in another ABS-CBN Studios series, let us first revisit her remarkable TV portrayals in the more than two decades that she has been in the local entertainment scene.
Those who have been able to follow her acting career ever since the beginning would know that she was discovered in the early 2000s when the defunct celebrity talk show “The Buzz” featured her touching quest for her estranged biological father, late actor Ross Rival. But apart from being able to find his long-lost dad, she was able to get more than she was looking for as former ABS-CBN CEO Charo Santos opened the doors of showbiz for her.
Even though she has relatives and connections in the industry, Maja has managed to carve her own path and create a name for herself through her own grit, determination, and skills.
At 15, the Salvador scion made her acting debut via the 2003 classic series “It Might Be You” as part of the supporting cast. She scored her first-ever starring role through the teen adventure-supernatural series “Spirits” in 2004, which also marked the television debut of critically acclaimed director Chito S. Roño.
In 2006, she got cast in “Sa Piling Mo,” which was topbilled by Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual, and then as budding singer Kimmy Bautista/Ruby Gomez in the musical romantic-drama series “Pangarap Na Bituin” in 2007, which she co-starred in along with Sarah Geronimo and Rica Peralejo. It was followed by her stint as a supporting cast member in the horror-drama series “Sineserye Presents: Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara” led by “Box-Office Horror Queen” Kris Aquino.
The year 2009 was indeed a hectic year for Maja, as she had to work on two teleseryes at the same time. She was part of the phenomenal faith-centric drama series “May Bukas Pa,” endearing viewers as Stella Rodrigo. She had to juggle with her portrayal of the relatively mature role of Celina Fernandez in the romantic drama series “Nagsimula sa Puso.”
She was able to unleash her comedic flair through her character Devin Ventura in “Precious Hearts Romances Presents Impostor” in 2010, which she topbilled alongside Sam Milby and Melai Cantiveros.
The seasoned actress went on to showcase her versatility as an actress through her impeccable performances in the 2011 teleseryes “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” as Krista Villanueva-Del Tierro and “My Binondo Girl” as Amber Dionisio.
In 2012, she had found herself in the middle of a love triangle in “Precious Hearts Romances Presents Lumayo Ka Man sa Akin” as her character, Janine del Castillo, captured the hearts of and fell in love with two men. It was also in that same year when she took on the role of Margaux Marasigan-Castillo in the romantic drama series “Ina Kapatid Anak.”
After her controversial portrayal of the loathed antagonist and mistress Nicole Esquivel in the sensational teleserye “The Legal Wife” in 2014, she went on to move hearts as Melissa Francisco in the “Gift of Life” episode of the special 10-episode seasonal series “Give Love on Christmas Presents.”
Maja clinched the Best Drama Actress trophy from the 29th PMPC Star Awards for TV for her commendable performance in the 2015 romance drama “Bridges of Love,” which she co-starred in with Paulo Avelino and Jericho Rosales. Later that year, she got reunited with Primetime King Coco Martin in the top-rating, longest-running ABS-CBN action-drama series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”, in which she impressed and amused us with her portrayal of SP01 Glenda "Glen" Corpuz.
Her laudable performance as the legendary Lily Cruz/Ivy Aguas in the 2017 revenge drama series “Wildflower” turned her into a multi-awarded actress, as she won multiple Best Actress recognitions from different award-giving bodies. She eventually got the moniker “Queen of Revenge Drama” through her stint as the vengeful and treacherous Camila Dela Torre in the gothic drama series “The Killer Bride”.
Two years since “The Killer Bride” had concluded, she returned to ABS-CBN via the 2022 action-drama series “The Iron Heart,” wherein she played Cassandra, the initial love interest of Richard Gutierrez’s character, Apollo Adelantar. It might only be for a very limited time, but it indeed left a lasting impression on the viewers, wishing for her to have another teleserye under the media company.
