Misunderstandings and quarrels among couples are just normal, right? However, there are instances when their fights become irrational or unacceptable, especially when there’s already abuse included.
And that is exactly what has been happening to the Policarpio couple of the ABS-CBN Studios series “Sins of the Father,” Agnes and Johnny, compellingly portrayed by Jessy Mendiola and RK Bagatsing. As their altercations continue, which is usually triggered by Johnny’s unreasonable jealousy and volatile temper that sometimes result in him abusing her physically, emotionally, mentally and verbally, let us look back on 10 of their heated confrontations via this edition of Kapamilya Toplist.
Those who have been regularly watching this super exciting and action-packed advocacy series have probably seen that episode wherein Agnes confided to Samuel (Gerald Anderson) that her marriage with Johnny used to be blissful, especially when they got pregnant since they both wanted to become parents.
However, things started to drastically change between them when they lost their child and he continues to blame her for it. Both of them spiraled into depression, with Johnny eventually becoming aggressive, abusive, and snarky towards her, while she chose to stay with him and endure all the unpleasant things that he has been doing to her, propably out of love.
Knowing how gorgeous, charming, and adorable his wife is, Johnny tends to monitor almost her every move, even at work. And this sometimes causes their fights, as Johnny reprimands her whenever he sees her in close distance with other men, without asking her first about it. He accuses her of infidelity and flirting with one of her bosses, Jacob (JC de Vera), and with Samuel—when in fact, it is he who actually has an extra-marital affair, and Agnes seems to be aware of it.
As she got closer to Samuel, especially when she started to get involved in his personal woes as a secret civilian agent, it’s not only Johnny’s jealousy that grew but also his suspicion that there’s something romantic going on between them. He even started to tag Samuel as her “kabit,” or paramour, and would even sometimes show up at their workplace in his pursuit of catching them in the act.
Well, he indeed caught Samuel and Agnes during one of their late-night rendezvous in an empty public leisure park to supposedly talk about something important and not because they had an illicit affair. Of course, this once again sparked another heated argument between the couple, in which he physically assaulted her and gaslighted her for being the reason why he had been cheating on her.
There were also instances when he forced himself on her even though she didn’t want to have an intimate moment with him, as well as hurt and insult her in public places. And in a recent episode, Johnny already went as far as accusing Agnes of being involved in the alleged fraudulent acts of her boss, Roldan (Joko Diaz), after his son, Enzo (Seth Fedelin), was shot along with Samuel. Johnny told her that there’s a possibility that Roldan might be a “scammer” like Samuel, or they are perhaps even business partners—and Agnes is just covering them up.
Will there still be a chance for Agnes and Johnny to have a blissful marriage life? Let’s all find out by not missing an episode of “Sins of the Father”, weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, TV5 and iWant.
