Following the tragic demise of his beloved wife, Gracia (Shamaine Buencamino), and his in-laws, as well as surviving the attempted assault of Mayor Roberto Guerrero (Albert Martinez) with the help of Tanggol (Coco Martin) and his squad, Paeng (Michael de Mesa) has found himself and the remaining members of their family stuck in a limbo.
As Paeng laments on how misfortune and danger tend to follow them wherever they go, Fatima (Andrea Brillantes) cheers him up by telling him not to lose hope yet, for she’s optimistic that Tanggol can help them attain justice for their dearly departed once he gets elected as mayor and even get back to the peaceful life they once had.
But Paeng reminds her to not hope for it anymore because of everything that has happened in their lives and tells her that he doesn’t want to completely rely on Tanggol. He goes on to apologize to them, for he believes that it’s all his fault as the padre de pamilya. This prompts his brother-in-law, Nognog (Nonong Ballinan), to remind him that he’s just a human being who cannot resolve problems on his own and what matters most is that they’re together.
However, Maki (Vince Rillon) chimes in, telling them to stop being optimistic that their life will get better again and blaming Fatima and Paeng for their never-ending predicaments. Nognog comes to their defense to remind Maki that he also has his share in their plight since he was accused of attempting to kill Mayor Guerrero after the authorities found a gun in his possessions.
Hurt when Maki insists that it’s him and his inability to provide a good life to their family the decent way is the root cause of the tragedies that have happened to their family, Paeng wasn’t able to stop himself from slapping and castigating him.
Fatima quickly stops them and says that nobody among them is solely at fault since it’s the Guerreros who must be blamed for taking advantage of their situation. She then tells Maki that she would never regret exposing the Guerreros because she wants to show them that there’s someone like her who can go up against them. She also advises him to stop the blame game and just focus instead on helping their family in their current battle since she wouldn’t let this cruel world disband them.
