Avid ABS-CBN viewers and long-time fans of former child star and Star Magic artist Xyriel Manabat were arguably surprised and delighted when she was unveiled to be one of the newest housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition,” alongside Kapuso newcomer Shuvee Etrata. They were the last ones to complete the roster of housemates of this edition, as they made an entrance on Day 36, which fell on April 13.
The “Golden Anaktres ng Rizal" was enthusiastically welcomed by the housemates, especially the Kapamilya artists, who were thrilled to see her. Well, it’s likely because she is one of those showbiz figures who they’ve been looking up to because of her talent, versatility, and longevity in the local entertainment scene.
She indeed grew right before our eyes as she started her career at a very young age in the late 2000s. It all began when she joined “Star Circle Quest: Search for the Kiddie Idol” in 2009, in which she finished third runner-up. Despite not winning the competition, she still scored a series of acting gigs both on TV and film, with the iconic 2010 series “Agua Bendita” being her breakthrough project.
Aside from the aforementioned, among Xyriel’s other notable teleserye stints as a child and teen star were “Momay” (2010), “100 Days To Heaven” (2011), “Hawak Kamay” (2014), and “Wildflower” (2017). As she reached the so-called “awkward stage”, she stepped out of the spotlight for a few years to experience living a normal life and to pursue her education. When she finished high school, she decided to make a showbiz comeback via the 2023 series “Dirty Linen,” which was succeeded by her stints in “Senior High” and ”High Street,” wherein she impressed and amused us with her portrayal of Roxy Cristobal.
More than her unparalleled talent and remarkable body of work at a young age, other reasons why a lot of people adore her is her being bubbly, genuine, outspoken, fierce, and levelheaded, making her a great example of an empowered woman.
