Over the past two decades of the undisputed, long-running reality show “Pinoy Big Brother,” it has not only changed the lives of individuals who got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to become its housemates but also the careers of its current Kapamilya hosts.
As we look forward to seeing a new batch of housemates enter the popular yellow house this March 9 as the much-awaited historic “PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition,” third installment of the “Celebrity Edition” and the 12th season overall, hosts Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee, Melai Cantiveros, and Alexa Ilacad enthusiastically imparted their respective journeys in the show and how being part of it up till the present has created tremendous impacts on their showbiz careers.
The first one to share her story is Alexa, who believes that joining PBB during the “Kumunity Season 10” edition has opened a lot of doors for her and how it has allowed her to show a different side of her not only to those who support her but also to those who do not know her yet. Furthermore, “Ang Gen Z Bestie ni Kuya” is able to prove that she’s not only talented in singing and acting, but she can also do hosting. She enthused, “It has been such an opportunity for me at nabago ang buhay ko in a way na dumami ang trabaho!”
Enchong, meanwhile, takes pride in being able to work with his “responsible and intelligent” co-hosts, who have influenced him to do good in his job as well and to always come prepared. Because of them, the “Official Homeboy ni Kuya” shares that when it comes to hosting, he has become more confident because of them.
While PBB already changed her life when she was hailed the Big Winner of the “Double Up” edition in 2010, Melai said that the program further changed her life now that she’s among its hosts. According to her, it has helped her find her way into the big world of show business, as well as support her family since it has been one of her regular shows on ABS-CBN.
“Ang Kuantie ni Kuya” then added, “Dito comfortable ako, siyempre kasama ko ‘yong mga Kapamilya ni Kuya. Ang sarap nila kasama sa trabaho. At ‘yong mga staff and crew namin, lalo na ‘yong mga audiomen, sobrang sarap sila katrabaho talaga. Kaya masasabi ko talaga na binago nila ang buhay ko [nang] 360 degrees.
Robi, on the other hand, reminisced on the beginning of his PBB journey, which was via his remarkable stint in the “Teen Edition Plus,” and how his life has been astonishingly altered since then.
“‘Yong confidence level ko tumaas, after ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ ang dami kong learnings,” the proud “Tambay sa Bahay ni Kuya” said. “Kahit nag-aaral ako no’n, mas marami pa rin akong nakukuhang aral sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya na hindi ko makukuha sa loob ng paaralan. At ‘yon ay pakikisama, pagpapakatao, pagiging totoo.”
Being one of its most successful alumni, there’s no doubt that PBB indeed made a highly valuable contribution in the life and showbiz career of Kim, as it paved the way for her to make all her aspirations come true. Thus, she would always have nothing but gratitude towards the reality program, as well as her willingness to do almost everything for Kuya.
“Twenty years na ‘yong Bahay ni Kuya [and] for the past 19 years tinulungan talaga niya ako. For me na naging host din dito sa ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ is a big thing din kasi mayroon talagang space sa puso ko si Kuya. And kahit anong sabihin niya sa akin, anong ipagawa niya sa akin, gagawin ko talaga. [Kasi] kung hindi dahil ka Kuya, wala ako dito,” the “Next Door Ka-bonding ni Kuya” conveyed.
The last one to share was Bianca, who fondly recalled that she was just 22 years old when she entered the house and became one of the housemates of the “Celebrity Edition 1” in 2005. That’s why it still apparently feels awesome for “Ang Dating Boarder ni Kuya” that in the past 20 years, it has been the happiest job she has ever had, which actually never felt like work to her.
For this “PBB Celebrity Collab Edition,” which is a collaboration between ABS-CBN Studios and GMA, Alexa, Bianca, Enchong, Kim, Melai, and Robi will be joined by GMA Sparkle artists Gabbi Garcia, a.k.a. “Kapuso It Girl ni Kuya”, and Mavy Legaspi, a.k.a. “Ang Kapuso Royal Tropa ni Kuya.”
