“Ang sukatan ng halaga ng isang tao ay hindi kung ano ang mayroon siya, kundi kung ano siya! Tandaan mo ‘yan!”
Sounds familiar? Well, if you’ve been religiously watching “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” every weeknight ever since it premiered two years ago, you could probably recall that these powerful words were actually delivered by the one and only Charo Santos during the intense confrontation scene of her well-loved feisty character, Tindeng, with the widely despised character of McCoy de Leon, David.
Now that they live again under one roof due to Tindeng’s return following the death of her best friend, Noy (Lou Veloso), let’s revisit the scorching face-offs between equally palaban grandma and grandchild in this edition of Kapamilya Update.
Let us begin with that instance when Tindeng reprimanded David for hurling insults at Tanggol (Coco Martin) after he figured in a rumble that left him wounded. She exasperatingly reminded David that even though Tanggol is indeed “basagulero” and “tarantado,” he must still respect him as his kuya or older brother. David hit back by saying that Tanggol had remained mischievous because he knew there would be people who would defend him—one of them is none other than Tindeng.
Tindeng and David once again got into a scorching spat when she asked him what he had done to trigger Tanggol to go livid and vehemently beat him up. However, instead of telling her what exactly happened, David obnoxiously responded to her and implied that she would not believe whatever he would say anyway since Tanggol is her most favorite apo.
While other grandchildren are excited to see their grandparents again after quite some time, this would apparently not happen to David and Tindeng. His gigil was absolutely evident upon the sight of Tindeng and Noy at the dining table as soon as he arrived home, so it didn’t come as a surprise that he declined the invitation of his mother, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), to have dinner with them.
Tindeng and David once again clashed after she called him out for pompously talking to Marites when he castigated him for not coming home the night before. He was slapped and chastised by Marites for disrespecting Tindeng, but that didn’t stop him from acting high and mighty, which prompted Tindeng to furiously remind him that manners still matter more than money.
And lastly, Tindeng wasn’t able to contain her rage towards David when he rudely spoke to her anew and then tagged her as someone who came from the “lahi ng patapon ang buhay.”
Will there still be a chance for Tindeng and David to establish a cordial bond? Well, let’s see by not missing an episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” weeknights at 8 PM, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
