As the war between the groups of Tanggol (Coco Martin) and Rigor (John Estrada) continued, not only the police lost their comrades but also the latter, as Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) and his godson-slash-most trusted aide, Franco (John Medina), were killed in the midst of action.
Despite his age and being discouraged by his son, Ramon, the Montenegro patriarch still insisted on joining the fight, in which he was shot multiple times by Rigor—much to the shock and rage of Tanggol and Ramon. Although the enemies riddled them with bullets, they were still able to take Don Julio and Franco out of the battlefield and load them into their getaway car. The police didn’t bother to chase them anymore, as the group of Tanggol were able to escape quickly.
Due to the fatal shots they’d sustained, both of them died on their way to the hospital. But before taking his last breath, Don Julio managed to utter his dying message and wish for both Ramon and Tanggol. He apologized to them for not being able to fight with them anymore and asked them to protect each other since they’re the only Montenegros left, as well as make sure that nothing else should be taken from them.
He reminded Tanggol to continue what he’s been fighting for because he now firmly believes that he’ll bring real change. He went on to tell them how happy he was to be with both of them in his final moments and how much he loved them.
Don Julio, afterwards, mentioned the name of his late daughter, Olivia (Chanda Romero), and expressed his delight to be reunited with her before he expired.
Rather than burying them, Ramon and Tropang Tanggol placed Don Julio and Franco in separate boats, allowing them to sail independently. As they watched the boat coast, Ramon and Tanggol bade goodbye to them by reminiscing about their fondest moments with Don Julio and whispering their heartfelt farewell messages to him. Ramon then vowed to eliminate the Guerreros to avenge the death of his beloved father.
