Forms of betrayal and alliances take over in the November 5 episode of “Sins of the Father.” The trial for King’s (Clave Sun) full custody continues, with Leah (Shaina Magdayao) persistently claiming that Samuel (Gerald Anderson) is part of a syndicate.
However, the witnesses’ testimonies don’t fully align with Leah’s suspicions, as several loopholes emerge.
Enzo is determined on tracking truths
Enzo (Seth Fedelin) continues to suspect the whereabouts of his father, Roldan (Joko Diaz), especially with Bekkah (Malou Crisologo) acting suspiciously. He feels betrayed, believing that Bekkah has something to do with his father's actions. He keeps following Bekkah's car to find out what she’s truly up to.
Meanwhile, Arissa (Francine Diaz) still tries to get a hold of Enzo, but he hasn’t responded. “Sorry, Arissa,” Enzo says to himself as he reads her messages. Arissa remains persistent, continuing to send him texts asking if he’s okay.
King’s custody on trial
As the custody hearing continues, Lolita (Lotlot de Leon) takes the witness stand to defend her son, Samuel. She states that King has been with Samuel his whole life, especially during important occasions. Samuel is a responsible father who provides for his son’s needs--even during the time he lost his job, was blacklisted, and faced hardships as a parent.
The interrogation leads to another important question: Leah’s whereabouts as the mother who left her child with Samuel. Lolita breaks down, saying Leah abandoned her son since infancy, fueling her confusion as to why Leah now wants custody. “Mahirap ipagkatiwala sa isang tao ang bata na mismong inabandona niya!”
Later on, Leah takes the witness stand and is questioned about abandoning King. “Did I abandon King? No! I abandoned Samuel. Dahil hindi na ako masaya no’n,” she defends. She explains that postpartum depression led her to leave and that she was unfit to be a mother back then. Now, she claims to be ready and capable. Her desire for custody stems from concerns over Samuel’s alleged involvement in a scam and King’s kidnapping.
However, these suspicions remain unproven, especially as her husband Jacob Rivera (JC De Vera) and brother-in-law Roldan Rivera (Joko Diaz) are allegedly part of the syndicate--based on Johnny Policarpio’s (RK Bagatsing) statement about the shooting incident involving Enzo.
Based on the testimonies, the judge denies Leah’s request for custody.
Jacob’s survival over his family
While in hiding, Jacob tries to contact his family. However, Roldan stops him. “Kailangan kong tawagan ‘yung mag-ina ko. Kailangan kong makausap si Leah at saka si Chloe,” Jacob insists, grabbing the phone from Roldan.
But Roldan is persistent. “Sa tingin mo, hindi naka-tap ang mga telepono natin?” he asks, suspecting that Diego (Tirso Cruz III) will soon discover their location if they use their phones. In the end, Jacob can do nothing but just pour out his anger toward Diego.
Johnny discovers an explosive truth
As Johnny investigates the explosion involving Diego and Samuel, he examines photos and evidence, determined to prevent the case from being whitewashed and have Samuel arrested once his involvement is proven.
His suspicions grow as one piece of evidence is a bracelet belonging to his now ex-wife, Agnes (Jessy Mendiola), who was at the scene of the crime. It was known that Agnes helped Samuel in orchestrating the bombing.
Samuel is caught in the crossfire
Unbeknownst to them, Diego had convinced Judge Santos to reject Leah’s petition. When Leah confronts the judge, she suspects Samuel of coercion--but it was Diego who intervened. However, Diego’s favor comes with a price. He demands that Samuel track down Roldan and Jacob Rivera and have them killed.
Samuel later on resists as his moral compass won’t allow it. Instead, he considers alternative plans, such as gaining Diego’s full trust before completely going against him.
With every truth waiting to be exposed, the stakes rise--and their next move could instantly change their fate.
