Before the suspense unfolds, viewers first confront Alice’s (Janelle Salvador) first traumatic experience, one that led her to fear the dark.
One morning at a bustling local market, young Alice went with her mother, Mrs. Quintana (Carlene Aguilar), who was haggling over the fruit prices. Only for a brief moment does Mrs. Quintana let go of her daughter, yet she reminds her to stay close.
Curious as she is as a child, she wanders off and becomes lost. Minutes later, panic sets in as Mrs. Quintana realizes her daughter is gone.
Mel finds momentary refuge from Anton
In the aftermath of their quarrel, a sobbing and restless Mel (Sue Ramirez) heads into their shared bathroom—a small space that she chooses to endure to distance herself from Anton (Jameson Blake).
Uneasy, Anton follows her but cannot do more than knock and plead with her outside. He makes assurances that he will never harm Mel again and that all he wants is to love her.
In a sudden moment, quietness sets in, surprising Mel—only to be broken when Anton forces the door open and fails in the process, locking Mel inadvertently.
An unknowing Beth nearly becomes a victim of Edong
Late into the night, Beth (Charlie Dizon) and Ryan (Yves Flores) intently listen to the doctor’s medical advice for Chloe’s (Jewel Milag) full recovery.
At the same time, a vengeful Edong (Jake Cuenca) is recognized to be lurking inside Beth’s home, where he oddly gazes on a family photo.
Beth arrives with her family and opens the gate. From the window, Edong watches—unafraid, his smile turning wicked. In the same spot where Edong had just stood before vanishing, Beth feels a strange unease creeping over her—stretching from the spaces inside the house to the area by the window.
In their room, Beth anxiously speaks to Ryan about the driver and the man who ran after Chloe and Joshua (Lawrence dela Cruz), causing the accident. At ease, Ryan assures Beth that the driver is taking accountability and offers the option to ask Chloe if she wants to file a legal report against the chaser—unbeknownst to them, Edong (Jake Cuenca).
After calming down, Beth reflects on Mel (Sue Ramirez) and Alice’s (Janella Salvador) thoughts about her becoming a mother, often recalling how they said they could never imagine the studious and career-driven Beth expressing such deep love for her daughter.
Adding more love to the conversation, Ryan reminisces about the sudden journey of becoming young parents to Chloe and tells Beth that he wouldn’t change anything about their family. Contented, Beth gets up to check on Chloe, leaving Ryan with a seemingly unusual cautious look.
As the few hours of the night set in, Edong quietly enters Chloe’s room, where the mother and daughter are deep in sleep next to each other. Strangely, he traces Chloe’s arm in a sling before moving over to Beth, this time taking out a glass shard from Alice’s (Janella Salvador) home, which he had earlier attacked.
He hovers the makeshift weapon near her neck, but an abrupt phone call stops him, waking Beth.
Concerned, Beth is informed about the events at Alice’s house. There, hiding inside a room and clutching her son, is a disoriented Alice, repeatedly whispering that no one will take her son, Seth (Rhys Stevens), away from her.
