“Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” housemate Joaquin Arce reflected on the "multo" that followed him through much of his life. Raised by a single mom, Joaquin admitted that growing up, he thought everything was perfectly fine between his parents who remained friends. But when the pandemic happened, he started to notice the cracks, the things that didn’t feel as okay as he once believed.
He confessed that for a long time, he harbored resentment toward his father, filmmaker Neil Arce, whom he felt was distant and whose role in his life seemed limited to financial support, paying for his education and providing for his needs, but not really being there in the emotional sense.
As he entered showbiz, the same industry his dad belongs to, their relationship began to change. For the first time, he's felt his father’s genuine support as a mentor who guides him through the ropes of the industry. Slowly, the distance between them started to fade, and Joaquin said that the hole he had carried with him for the past eighteen years finally began to feel filled.
After sharing his story, Joaquin opened up to his fellow Star Magic housemate Lella Ford about feeling a bit awkward for saying all those things. But Lella reassured him that his dad would understand. After all, he just released what he had felt for so long.
