With how fast-paced and quite complicated the world has become, it is believed that finding long-lasting and genuine friendships is already rare. Thus, people who have found one or more friends should consider themselves fortunate, like Tindeng and Noy of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” played by veteran actors Charo Santos and Lou Veloso, who have become each other's ultimate partners in life.
But sadly, the beautiful connection that they'd forged and maintained over the decades suddenly got shattered after Noy was brutally and mercilessly killed by Lena (Mercedes Cabral),the mistress of Tindeng’s son-in-law Rigor (John Estrada) who eventually got deranged after losing her child due to miscarriage. As we bid farewell to Noy, let’s revisit in this Kapamilya Update the scenes that make us consider him and Tindeng as our ultimate #BFFGoals.
They make life a bit lighter and a lot happier
These elderly best friends, who had been close since they were quite young, had had a difficult life. However, despite the challenges they faced together or separately, Tindeng and Noy always managed to see the bright side of things. And we’re able to witness that in that scene wherein they were looking for a job and Noy joked about them trying their hand at snatching or Tindeng working in a nightclub.
They are each other’s greatest supporter (and adviser!)
One of the many things that we loved about the friendship of Tindeng and Noy was how they were each other's greatest ally in almost everything that they did. Whose heart wasn’t touched when it was only her who believed him after he related to Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) his appalling encounter with Olga (Irma Adlawan)? As the two-faced Olga cruelly drove him away and pretended that she didn’t know him when he chanced upon her at a cafe, Noy couldn’t help but be offended and pity himself. Thus, Tindeng assured him that he’s important and loved by her and her family.
Besides, they were also a tag team when it came to making Marites realize how foolish she had been towards his unfaithful husband. They tried to convince her to break up with him, but to no avail since Marites still chose Rigor over her mother.
They might often agree with each other, yet there were times when they had little debates. One of those instances was when they argued about whether to leave the house or not due to Tindeng's intense altercations with Rigor. While Tindeng still wanted to stay so she could watch over Marites and protect her from Rigor, Noy advised that it would be better for them to leave in order to avoid further fights with her son-in-law and to keep her self-respect.
Noy also became the number one shipper of the #FacunDeng loveteam, a.k.a. Tindeng’s tandem with Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas), when they got really close with one another.
They are always there for each other
May it be through good times and bad times, they’re definitely there for one another. We got to see them defend one another from anyone who dared to hurt or insult them, such as when Tindeng didn’t neglect Noy and shielded him from Pacing’s (Malou Crisologo) reprimand after he accidentally destroyed the plants of Senora Bettina (Tessie Tomas) as he passed out due to extreme heat.
When Noy got sick, Tindeng remained by his side and took good care of him by not only giving him money for his medical checkup and medicines but by also covering up for them at work. It can be recalled that Tindeng defended Noy when their friend-turned-boss Cecilia (Raquel Villavicencio) and her son reprimanded him for leaving work without permission and told them that he had to do it for his welfare.
For sure, hearts were pierced and tears were shed as Noy lamented about not having a family and dying alone. Being a true friend that she is, Tindeng reminded him that it would not happen since she would stay by his side no matter what happens—just like what he did when it was her who needed his help.
She told him, “Noy, simula noong dumating ako sa Quiapo, tinanggap mo ako. Kinupkop mo ako, inalagaan mo ako, tinuring mo akong parang tunay na kapatid. Noy, hindi ka nag-iisa. Mahal na mahal kita. Ako ang pamilya mo.”
And just recently, our hearts were surely shattered as Tindeng bawled upon the sight of Noy’s cold and lifeless body at the morgue after he was murdered by Lena. She apologized to him for not being able to help him when he needed her the most and bade farewell to the best-est friend she ever had.
